Investments

Should I own equity investments or fixed income investments, or a mix of the two?

The answer to this question depends on your personal situation.  If you are young and working and still accumulating assets, a mix of equities and fixed income securities may be appropriate.  If you are retired or contemplating retirement soon, you may want to increase the amount you have invested in fixed income securities just to reduce the volatility of your investments.  An investment plan should be custom designed for your individual circumstances.

I am retired now.  Do I have to invest differently from the way I did before?

Yes, investing for retired individuals is different from investing for individuals who are still in their earning years.  Much more attention has to be paid to income needs and the amount of investment risk has to be carefully evaluated.  Any investment plan should be custom designed for your individual circumstances.
