CASE STUDY #3:

Why buying a cheap disability policy may not be “worth” the savings.

My client was a single physician who needed a private disability policy.  Instead of buying a comprehensive disability policy from me (high monthly benefit with short waiting periods), he opted to buy a cheaper policy from his accountant’s insurance agent which provided lower benefits and longer waiting periods.   Within 18 months of buying the policy, my client was diagnosed with a faulty heart valve which was operated on successfully at the Cleveland Clinic.  My client had to return to work very soon after his surgery to preserve his practice.  He received no benefits whatsoever from his “bargain” disability policy.
