Mr. Resnik is an experienced financial professional who in the last eight years has concentrated on helping individuals, small business owners, domestic partners and families cope with their financial problems and realize their financial goals, such as a comfortable retirement, college education for their children or leaving a legacy for future generations or charity.

His professional journey started in 1968 after he graduated from The Johns Hopkins University (where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and had a General Motors Scholarship) and joined the Navy as a shipboard officer serving in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean. After leaving the service three years later, Mr. Resnik returned to school enrolling in both Columbia Law School and Columbia Business School. He received both his Juris Doctor as well as his Masters in Business Administration in May of 1974. After taking the summer off to study for the bar exam, which he passed, he then went to work for PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP as an auditor, where he later also passed the CPA exam.

Mr. Resnik then switched to the practice of law and practiced for four years in New York City law firms ending his legal career at Skadden, Arps, Slate Meagher and Flom LLP where he was a senior corporate associate working in the corporate mergers and acquisitions department. He then shifted to finance and spent the next 20 years in various financial positions. Mr. Resnik has served as Chief Financial Officer of both private and public companies, as well as the International Chief Financial Officer for a major advertising network. He has also had real company operating experience. In the 1980’s he was President and Chief Executive Officer of two operating companies that he had to turn around. He was able to make both companies profitable and later sell them at a profit. As a result, he has considerable knowledge of what managing a small business is like.

Since 2001, Mr. Resnik has been working as a financial advisor. Before he joined Summit Financial Resources in February of 2008, he spent four years as a Financial Advisor at a major international wealth advisory firm. In 2008, Mr. Resnik was awarded the Personal Financial Specialist designation by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Less than 5,000 CPA’s in the country have earned that credential which qualifies them to provide financial advice in the most complex of situations. In January of 2009, Mr. Resnik opened the Summit Financial Resources office in New York City.
